We seek friendly, positive, and responsible volunteers to help us maintain a clean and welcoming environment for our guests.
Volunteers are a big part of what makes Phoenix Hostel & Cultural Center feel like home. We’re looking for friendly, reliable people who enjoy meeting travelers, pitching in around the hostel, and being part of a fun, welcoming community.
There’s a little bit of everything to do here, cleaning, laundry, yard work, and the occasional maintenance or improvement project. We appreciate people who take pride in their work, can be counted on to get things done, and are comfortable working independently.
And then there’s the best part: our guests! Our volunteers are often the friendly faces travelers get to know during their stay. Whether you’re chatting with someone in the kitchen, sharing a favorite Phoenix recommendation, or simply saying hello as people come and go, we love volunteers who genuinely enjoy interacting with our wonderful guests.
You don’t have to be the life of the party. Just be friendly, approachable, dependable, and happy to be part of the community.
Who We’re Looking For
We’re looking for people who are friendly, positive, and dependable, and who are comfortable living and working in a communal environment. Our volunteers should be adaptable and willing to pitch in where needed, take initiative without always being told what to do, and pay attention to detail while taking pride in doing a good job.
We also value curiosity and an openness to other people, cultures, and perspectives. Since you’ll be interacting with travelers from around the world, it’s important that you’re comfortable meeting people from different backgrounds and respectful of different identities, experiences, and ways of life.
What We Offer
Volunteers have a private room with a bed and desk, along with WiFi and air conditioning. You’ll also have access to laundry facilities, a shared bathroom, and our shared hostel kitchen. Free breakfast is included as well.
What We Ask
Volunteers work approximately 15–18 hours per week and have two days off each week. The schedule is generally from 10am–2pm, although cleaning is usually completed by 1pm. We are a non-smoking, non-vaping hostel, so we ask that all volunteers be non-smokers, non-vapers.
OUR COMMUNITY VALUES
Phoenix Hostel & Cultural Center is committed to creating a welcoming and inclusive community. Volunteers must be comfortable working with and welcoming Trans and LGBTQ+ people, working with women and non-binary leadership, uplifting Black and Brown women's leadership, and supporting migrant rights.
All volunteers are expected to practice anti-racism and to approach our community with respect, openness, and a commitment to social justice.
